BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown took to Facebook on Sunday to share a reminder about garbage dumping.

According to the mayor and the city's Department of Public Works, someone dumped a large amount of trash next to the Elim Christian Fellowship in Buffalo, and DPW workers had to remove it.

Although they did this quickly before church services began, the mayor reminded residents that doing this costs the community more money.

Dumping is illegal, and city residents can go to the East Side Transfer Station (793 S. Ogden St.) and dump their trash for free. Residential drop-off is Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., and on Saturday 8 a.m. until Noon. Residents are required to have a driver’s license and utility bill to prove their residency.
