BUFFALO, N.Y. – A Buffalo man will spend at least the next year in prison after he was found guilty to dog fighting.

Officials announced that 54-year-old Edward “Boo” Bishop was sentenced to the maximum one and a third to four years in prison for Animal Fighting on Monday.

Bishop was arrested in April, 2015 when officers received a confidential tip that he was training pit bulls for dogfighting.

Seven pit bull dogs were found in Bishop’s home. Animal fighting paraphernalia and dogfighting books and training manuals were also found.

Previously, Bishop pleaded guilty in federal court to sponsoring an animal in an animal fighting venture in 2010.

Bishop also is prohibited from owning, harboring or having custody or control of any animal for the next 10 years.
