Buffalo Bisons hire firm to push state to pay for renovations to the ballpark

Renovations were made at Sahlen Field when the Toronto Blue Jays played there during the 2021 season but those upgrades were primarily done to the clubhouse.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bisons have hired a local lobbying firm.

It's a push for the state to pay for an overhaul to the 16,600-seat Sahlen Field in downtown Buffalo

Officials confirmed to 2 On Your Side that the Bisons are in preliminary discussions with state officials.

The lobbying firm co-owned by former Buffalo mayor Anthony Masiello is in talks with Governor Kathy Hochul's office about renovations to the ballpark which is the oldest non-renovated triple-a ballpark in the country.

Extensive renovations were made at Sahlen Field when the Toronto Blue Jays played there during the 2021 season but those upgrades were primarily done to the clubhouse which affected the players and not the overall fan experience.

This is a developing story and we will have more coverage on Tuesday.
