Bishop Timon students featured in new documentary

Victory Formation Season 2: Perfect Timon will stream on Amazon Prime later this year.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new documentary is coming to Amazon Prime featuring students from Bishop Timon - St. Jude High School.

It's called "Victory Formation SZN 2: Perfect Timon" and follows students throughout the school year highlighting their accomplishments and challenges.

Season 1 of Victory Formation focused on the 2021 Canisius High School football season. This time, Bishop Timon is featured and the focus is on more than football.

The students themselves are involved in the production of the documentary.

"Victory Formation SZN 2: Perfect Timon" highlights the journeys of students as they make their way through the football, hockey, and basketball seasons and beyond.

James McNeil Jr. is one of the student-athletes who is featured. He was also in Season 1 and plays football and runs track.

"It'll help me do things like this, like talk to media, to be able to have a good speaking voice, be able to just be a leader in different things with the team because with the camera always on you, you can't mess up at all, so it really keeps you on your toes at all times, and it's fun," said James McNeil Jr.

"We're just trying to piece it together and make sure it all like flows smoothly, that it looks good and that it's going to be one of the best productions yet," said Gabriel Vidal.

"So how much footage do you, like realistically, how much footage do you have to go through?" asked 2 On Your Side's Kelly Dudzik.

"Way too much to count. We have practices, games, other school events, we just have to try to clip it all together and make it into a 45 minute episode," said Gabriel Vidal.

"We've been working hard on it, that's for sure. A lot of stuff has been going on behind-the-scenes that a lot of people don't see. A lot of people's time that they're putting into this, so it's going to be good," said Cameron Przewozny, a senior hockey player.

One of those people is Justin Gilmore. He is the director.

"The biggest story, the reason why we did more than just sport, Timon the school itself is a character which I think is super important because they're doing things that other schools aren't necessarily doing," said Justin Gilmore.

He really wanted to get the students involved in producing Season 2.

"For the soundtrack specifically, I'm working with a company called Ear Quality," said Justin Gilmore. "They're working on the soundtrack doing it so some of the students will be able to, like you saw AJ play the guitar, and he hated the first season's soundtrack. He was like this is kind of cheesy or whatever, and I'm like all right, well, this is your perfect opportunity to do something, so that's super cool."

The school's director of advancement, Lysa Elis, has been a big part of making the project happen. It has brought together students from different friend groups who might not have otherwise gotten to know each other.

"Collectively, they have something in common, and they're creating something like we say will live forever," said Justin Gilmore.

They are expecting to have this new season streaming on Amazon Prime in August or September and it should be about ten episodes.
