BFSA met to discuss the city's financial situation

One important topic on the agenda was the use of the American Rescue Plan funds.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority met to discuss the city's current financial situation.

One important topic on the agenda was the use of the American Rescue Plan funds.

ARPA has provided the city with over $300M.

Local governments are required to return any grant money that is not used by the end of the year.

The City of Buffalo currently has over $50M in un-obligated grant funds.

The BFSA said it hopes the money will be designated before the deadline.

"It would be better for us to pull that money back and use it in the operating budget and then work with those community groups to figure out how to help with their projects. I would hate to see somewhere in November they say they can do this and find out they can't and we have to give the money back, " said Frederick Floss, Chair member of BFSA.

The Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority will meet once more before the end of the year on December 12.
