BUFFALO, N.Y. — It was an eventful Saturday morning for firefighters in the City of Buffalo.
Crews responded to two house fires, the most recent was on Jewett Avenue around 4 a.m.
Fire officials say the fire started on the first floor of the home. One resident made it to safety, while another resident was rescued by firefighters from the porch roof.
Both were transported by ambulance to ECMC to be treated for smoke inhalation and other injuries.
Officials also said that two firefighters were injured and taken to ECMC to be treated.
Fire investigators said the damage is estimated at $300,000. Right now, the Red Cross is assisting four adults and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Prior crews responded to a fire on Sears Street around 2:50 a.m. where they worked to put out flames.
Fire officials said the fire started on the first floor of this home as well. The Red Cross is assisting five people including four children.
Damage to the home is estimated at $160,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
