2 cyclists crash into Buffalo man, run away in London

Ron Chimera has a broken leg and a trip he will remember for all the wrong reasons.

LONDON, UK — On October 6, the Chimeras were heading to Europe for the first time.

Not only were they on the way to London to watch the Bills take on the Jaguars, but Ron Chimera, a cancer survivor, was planning to take his wife Mindy Chimera, of almost 30 years to Paris.

"He was going to surprise me," Mindy Chimera said.

"Yeah, we were going to do a lot of things, none of which we got to do," Ron Chimera said.

The day after getting to London, the two were walking near Parliament and hailed a cab to get to a gin tour on time.

"Two guys on e-bikes, I don't know if they were racing one another or just showing their manliness, they came around a corner and they couldn't stop. They both hit me one after the other," Ron Chimera said.

"I was in shock. I was shaking," Mindy Chimera said.

"The guys that hit me just got back on their bikes and had taken off," Ron Chimera said.

Ron Chimera ended up in the hospital with a broken leg and ankle.

But he had to wait five days to get home and have surgery at ECMC to avoid paying $36,000 in London.

And every returning flight was booked with Bills fans.

Ron Chimera did end up filing a police report against the two people who hit him, but it's nothing new to authorities there.

"These e-bikers are a little out of control according to the police officer who came to help me and my wife," Ron Chimera said. "Do I hate them? No. It's done. It's over with. But maybe sometimes we should be more considerate of people who are out there besides ourselves."

"This sounds like a trip you'll never forget for all the wrong reasons," 2 On Your Side's Danielle Church said to the couple.

"Oh, yeah," Ron Chimera said.

"I don't think we'll be going to London anytime soon," Mindy Chimera said.

Ron Chimera encouraged his wife to still try and enjoy the trip.

She did end up going to the Bills game with friends and went sightseeing herself.

Though they did file a police report, the couple has not heard anything back from police since the incident.

2 On Your Side also reached out to London's Metropolitan Police and have not heard back.
