Buffalo starts to issue school zone speed camera warnings

Starting February 6, instead of warnings, you can expect a $50 ticket in the mail.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — By now you've probably spotted those school zone speed cameras around the
City of Buffalo. They're taking pictures of cars that go over 25 mph in school zones, and for the moment, they're only giving out warnings to the owners of those cars.

2 On Your Side wanted to know how many warnings they've given in the two weeks since they went live, so we took that question to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.

"We don't have that number," Brown said. "We're monitoring it very closely. We will have a report to the public soon. But the program is going very well as anticipated and we will be giving a full report to the public before the ticketing goes live."

Starting February 6, instead of warnings, you can expect a $50 ticket in the mail.

2 On Your Side will share the results of the report with the public once it becomes available.
