New Buffalo PAL funding will help middle and high school students

Five Star Bank presented Buffalo PAL with a check for $5,000. The money will go toward PAL's free Youth Opportunity Connect program.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Police Athletic League of Buffalo has new funding to help middle and high schoolers reach their full potential.

Five Star Bank on Friday afternoon presented PAL with a check for $5,000. The money will go toward PAL's free Youth Opportunity Connect program, where participants engage in educational programming, resume writing workshops, field trips, and more.

"This contribution is huge to this program," Buffalo PAL executive director Nekia Kemp said. "Most funding sources support pre-K to sixth grade. There's rarely where there's funding that supports seventh to 11th grade, and we really want to support our young people, especially young people that are in transition to high school, or getting ready to go to college."

The activities are meant to help participants explore possible careers and improve their communication skills.
