BUFFALO, N.Y. β Many runners are lacing up their sneakers and getting ready to hit the pavement this upcoming weekend for the Buffalo Marathon.
Kicking off on Friday, May 24 runners from all over the country will be in Buffalo getting ready for the race that takes place on Sunday, May 26. Runners will lineup for the race start time at 6:30a.m. on Delaware Avenue and Huron Street.
Those traveling in or near the City of Buffalo on race day should be aware of the various road closures and runners that will be in the streets. To see a map of all of the road closures click here.
Along with the marathon itself, there will also be a half-marathon, 5K run, 5K walk, and more.
On the night before the race, there will be a pasta party happening from 3p.m. until 6p.m. at the Hyatt Regency. Those interested in attending must purchase tickets, and can do so by clicking here.
The Buffalo Marathon on their website writes that "We strive to have a positive impact on the local and surrounding communities in Western New York by giving back. To that end the race has made donations to other not for profits in the community. In the first 23 years we have given back over $1,800,000 to more than 50 local not for profit organizations."
As of May 15 the race organization announced that they had officially reached capacity for the marathon. Racers participating get a finisher t-shirt, finisher medal, get to attend the post race party, and be apart of certain age group awards.
