BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man is facing a murder charge for the death of a toddler on Tuesday.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office says Nathaniel Baker, 23, was arraigned Wednesday morning in Buffalo City Court. Baker is accused of beating Jordan Robinson, 2, in a home on Theodore Street Tuesday.
The child was taken to ECMC Tuesday evening where he was pronounced dead. Staff contacted the Buffalo police department who then began to investigate.
The investigation led them to a house on Sanders Road in Buffalo. Police say Baker's sister lived there. A stand-off with police ended with Baker peacefully surrendering and later being taken into custody.
Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says an autopsy is pending and the investigation is ongoing. Flynn also told 2 On your side that more charges could be added depending on the evidence that is discovered during the remainder of the investigation.
Baker is being held without bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
Flynn and Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo addressed the charges against Baker Wednesday morning. Watch the full press conference below:
