BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo firefighters are welcoming some new recruits.
A special ceremony was held Friday afternoon to mark the beginning of a 20-week training program. Those trainees will learn all the skills they need to help serve the community.
"You're going to be tested mentally, physically, and academically, and some of you are going to struggle at times. But for those of you who emerge from the other side and walk across that stage 20 weeks from now, it will be the happiest and proudest moments of your lives," William Rinaldo, the Buffalo Fire Department commissioner, said at the event.
After they complete training, the new recruits will be sworn-in to become full-fledged firefighters.
