BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Firefighters spend the morning battling a fire in South Buffalo.
They were called to the vicinity of Germania and Pembina streets just after 8 a.m. The Fire Department later updated the address to 108 O'Connor Avenue for a report of a fire.
Buffalo Fire Commissioner William Renaldo said the house fire was very intense when they arrived and extra equipment was called in to help fight the fire. Smoke could be seen for miles from the scene.
Because of the intensity of the fire, firefighters had to battle the fire from the outside.
Investigators say the house is believed to be vacant, but thought there might have been squatters living in the house.
The cause is still under investigation. Damage is estimated at $135,000 for the house and garage.
