Buffalo Fire: 2-alarm fire on city's East Side ruled arson

Firefighters say the building on Kilhoffer Street was a vacant structure that was under renovation.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Fire Department responded to a 2-alarm fire Tuesday afternoon on the city's East Side. The fire broke out just after 5 p.m. at 79 Kilhoffer Street and has been ruled an arson by Buffalo Fire.

Firefighters say the building was a vacant structure that was under renovation. The fire caused $80,000 worth of damage to the building.

The fire also caused exposure damage to the building next door, located at 75 Kilhoffer, creating $75,000 worth of damage. The American Red Cross is assisting two adults.

Police say one firefighter was injured in the fire. They were taken to ECMC where they were treated and released.

Officials say the fire is under investigation.
