Buffalo F.A.T.H.E.R.S. donates food to families

As part of the season of giving the organization also gave away brand new sneakers to families and raffled off a turkey.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A group called Buffalo F.A.T.H.E.R.S. is helping families with the food they need to put together a Thanksgiving feast. And they're doing it with a little help from their pantry on wheels.

Leonard Lane, president of Buffalo F.A.T.H.E.R.S., says they set up shop on the corner of Leroy and Fillmore Avenue because there is no supermarket within several miles making it a food desert.

"We got people coming from all over the city just perhaps looking to save a few dollars," said Lane. "I mean a can of string beans today, oooh, it's kind of up there you know what I mean? A box of cornbread, some string beans and some sweet potatoes...you're about to really spend some money."

As part of the season of giving the organization also gave away brand new sneakers to families and raffled off a turkey.
