Special exhibition created for the 10 lives lost in the May 14, Mass Shooting

The thoughtful work of three artists will be displayed in the new art exhibit in memory of those lost.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — In memory of loved ones lost in the horrific Tops Mass Shooting, a new and special art exhibit will be displayed at the AKG Art Museum.

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced that it will display a new exhibition honoring the 10 lives lost in the tragedy called, "Before and After Again".

It will feature new paintings, poetry and more by artists Julia Bottoms, Tiffany Gaines, and Jillian Hanesworth.

The exhibition will include portraitures, symbolically charged still life paintings, a series of fourteen new poems and written testaments to the communities healing.

“I believe this project can hold room for a community in mourning, while simultaneously searching for joy in the memory of those lost,” Bottoms said.

One thought behind the works of art has to do with using platforms to share important topics, like what has been dealt with.

“Helping the community heal while addressing the very real systemic issues our community lives with is the most important responsibility an artist can face,” Hanesworth said.

You can visit the exhibition with no admission fee in the Buffalo AKG's M&T Bank Gallery from March 8 until September 30.
