BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A popular exhibit has returned to the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, this year with another that gives attendees the chance to appreciate nature from a difference perspective.
The visitor favorite is the annual Succulent Exhibit, according to a news release from the Botanical Gardens, and it features thousands of cacti and succulents displayed in unusual and creative ways throughout the conservatory.
Cacti and succulents, or plants that live in arid conditions by storing water, can be found shaped to look like modern art from artists such as James Ensor and Franz Marc. Others are formed to look like a variety of creatures, from turtles to a giant cobra.
A photography exhibit by Sarah J. Carr-Mansouri called Enchanted Nature this year complements the Succulent Exhibit. The exhibit is Carr-Mansouri's first at the Botanical Gardens. She uses a unique metal printing technique in her work as well as vibrant colors, perspectives and textures. As a whole, her work is meant to take visitors on a journey from a dragon fly's perspective.
Both exhibits are open to the public through Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
The cost of both is also included in the botanical gardens' admission price of $9 for adults. $8 for seniors (55 and up) and students, $5 for children (ages 3-12) and free for children under 2.
