BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Dog Ears Bookstore in South Buffalo will be offering kids the opportunity to participate in their free literacy camps this summer.
Each camp will be a week-long, and will provide helpful tips, skills, and strategies for kids in grades second through eighth. Each subject area taught will be easily transferrable to NYS Common Core Curriculum.
Lessons and activities will be fun interactive, and hands-on.
All sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are limited to 20 students per camp on the dates below
- July 8-12 for kids ENTERING grades 4-6
- July 15-19 for kids ENTERING grades 2-3
- July 22-26 for kids ENTERING grades 7-8 (Readers & Writers workshop. A more intense reading and writing experience.)
- July 29-Aug. 2 for kids ENTERING grades 4-6
- Aug. 5-9 for kids ENTERING grades 4-6
- Aug. 12-16 for kids ENTERING grades 2-3
- Aug. 19-23 Camp Kindness for kids ENTERING grades 4-8 (Participants will take part in fun service projects and then journal about their experiences. This is also an opportunity for students to meet community service hour requirements.)
Those attending are limited to attending only one camp at their grade level, whereas camp kindness is open to anyone grades fourth through eighth along with other camps.
Teachers at the camps are NYS certified or those with comparable credentials. The camps will be held at the Dog Ears Bookstore & café located on Abbott Road.
