BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo's Municipal Housing Authority (BMHA) said some long overdue improvements are on the way for its five senior living residences.
The BMHA Thursday said it plans to spend $15 million on upgrades at the LBJ, Sedita, Monsignor Geary, Stuyvesant and 515 Clinton properties.
A total of 368 units at LBJ, Sedita and 515 Clinton will get new kitchens and bathrooms. One hundred units at the Monsignor Geary complex will get new bathrooms and two new elevators will be installed in Stuyvesant.
Executive Director Gillian Brown says these projects are the first step in the BMHA's long-term, authority-wide captial improvement strategy.
"In light of the overwhelming needs for all of our properties, we decided to start by targeting developments housing elderly residents which have not seen major renovations in many years," Brown said. "This investment will help attract and retain the extremely low-income elderly who can't afford other senior housing in the Buffalo market."
The work is expected to get underway during the 2021 construction season.
