"People bought and sold other human beings with callous disregard It happened right on Wall Street for more than a century," Hochul said.

"This Commission will be setting up to do is to go a little bit deeper and find out the historical origins and the harms that have been committed systematically so that these things may be addressed so that the communities impacted and directly harmed will be healed. And repaired," WUFO Cututal Radio Show host, Ras Jomo Akono.

The nine-member commission will be made up of folks selected by the governor and state lawmakers.

The hope is that there will be a report on the issue by this time next year.
