BATAVIA, N.Y. — New York State Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened Thursday night in the Town of Stafford.
Troopers told 2 On Your Side that 74-year-old James Ehmann was hit while getting his mail from a roadside mailbox, near the intersection of Route 5 and Batavia-Stafford Townline Road, around 5:20 p.m. Thursday.
Ehmann was taken to United Memorial Medical Center, where he later died.
State police said the 52-year-old driver of a 2010 GMC who hit Ehmann showed no signs of being impaired or distracted during the crash.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in the investigation.
