Artist responds to public reaction of her project in Delaware Park

The artist behind the project, Chloe Bass, spoke Thursday about the "Wayfinding" project.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — There have been mixed reviews about the new public art display in Delaware Park

The art project — backed by the Buffalo AKG Art Museum — includes 48 signs can be seen across the park, and they feature a variety of phrases such as "How much of life is coping?"

The artist, Chloe Bass, spoke about the "Wayfinding" project and shared her reaction to the positive messages, and the criticism, during a Thursday event.

"I don't think it's a bad thing at all, and it's not that I'm seeking to make people uncomfortable," Bass said. "I don't find this to be a confrontational work necessarily, but I am quiet genuine when I say this is a work for feelings, and all of those feelings are valid."

This is Bass's third installation in an Olmsted Park across the country.
