Local ice cream chain celebrates late co-founder with '105 cents' cones

Anderson's Frozen Custard celebrates late co-founders birthday in a sweet way.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — In November popular ice cream chain Anderson's Frozen Custard Inc. shared the sad news that their co-founder Greta Anderson had passed away.

First opening in 1946, Carl & Greta Anderson opened Anderson's Frozen Custard in the Bronx,  but got homesick for their roots back in Buffalo. The second Anderson's location opened in 1947 on Kenmore Avenue, and has been a WNY staple ever since.

Now run by Carl & Greta's daughter Holly, Anderson's has six WNY locations open weekly to serve up the popular sweet treats.

Greta was 105-years-old when she passed away last fall and to honor her legacy &  birthday, on Friday, February 9, the ice cream shop will be offering cones to customers for '105 cents' at all of their locations.

Customers will also have the opportunity from February 9 to the 29 to make a purchase of just $1.05 to Greta's Gift Tag Fundraiser where all purchases will be matched with the proceeds benefitting Variety Kid's Buffalo.

"Join us and raise a cone and cheer to Greta!" they wrote on their website
