EAST AMHERST, N.Y. — A home was severely damaged after a fire on Regents Park on Friday night in East Amherst, according to Amherst Central Fire Alarm.

The East Amherst and Swormville fire departments responded to the fire at 16 Regents Park, around 8:27 p.m. officials said. They said the neighbor to the burning house called to report the smell of something electrical burning and visible smoke.

The two-story home had smoke on the second floor when the chief requested additional help to the scene, officials said. They added that the fire spread to the attic from the second floor.

The damage to the vacant structure is estimated at $75,000 while the estimated damage for contents in the home is $20,000, officials said.

There are no reports of injuries.

The fire is under investigation but officials said the possible cause is an electrical wiring problem.
