WIRT, N.Y. — An Allegany County man is dead following a head-on collision in the Town of Wirt.
The crash happened Tuesday just after 2 p.m. on State Route 275.
New York State Troopers say a 2012 Ford Escape was traveling north on State Route 275 crossing over into the south lane, hitting a 2024 Hyundai head-on. The driver of the Ford Escape, 48-year-old Michael R. Coats, was pronounced dead at the scene. The people in the other vehicle had either no or minor injuries.
An autopsy has been scheduled to find the cause of death for Coats. New York State Police said Wednesday that they are still investigating.
