BUFFALO, N.Y. - Alcohol is now on the menu at some UB athletic events on campus, that is, if you're of age.
The University confirms that it got the approval from the state liquor authority to launch a pilot program for beer sales at basketball games starting with Saturday's game at Alumni Arena.
"There are people that want to have a cold beverage watching the sporting event and we want to be able to provide that opportunity and provide it the right way" said University at Buffalo Athletic Director Mark Alnutt.
The University is working closely with campus police to ensure fans are safe - and have partnered with Lyft to make sure they get home safely.
"We want to be responsive to our fans, but we also want to be responsible we're going to promote responsible drinking," said Alnutt.
They are hoping to expand it to the football season next year. Prices are $9 for a brew from 12 Gates and $8 for Bud Light.
"We wanted the opportunity to continue to enhance the experience we have at our sporting venues and be able to offer that opportunity for people who want to partake" said Alnutt.
