MAYVILLE, N.Y. — The first annual children's business fair hosted by Acton Academy will give kids the opportunity to launch their own startup business.

The one-day marketplace will open on Sunday, November 10 from noon to 4 p.m. in Mayville.

The first ever Acton Children's Business Fair was hosted in Austin, Texas. Leaders of the first fair and founders of the Acton Academy network, Jeff and Laura Sandefer wanted to teach their children about entrepreneurship and creativity.

Kids will develop a brand for their business idea and create a product or service. They will then have a market strategy to use when open for customers.

The Acton Children’s Business Fair will accept up to 36 businesses and applications to apply are open now here

The fair will be set up outdoors with tented booths. Each business will be given a booth with an 8-foot table to share with one other business and 1-2 chairs.

Parents will need to bring table cloths and other decorations. Parents also will need to bring starter cash.

The online application asks kids to write about important elements of their business idea including:

  • What product or service do you plan to sell?
  • What price will you charge for each product/service? How much will each product/service cost you?
  • How will you pay for your startup costs? If someone is helping you with your startup costs, how will you pay that person back?
  • How will you advertise/market your business before the fair?
  • At the end of the fair, how will you determine if your business was a success?

More details on this event will be available soon. For more information of the children's business fair or to fill out the application, visit the website here
