BUFFALO, N.Y. — On January 28, 1977, the Queen City was hit by a blizzard of epic proportions.
It was a storm for the record books and one fueled by tropical storm force winds, a frozen Lake Erie, and snow piled on top of the ice.
Bad conditions were made even worse by the fact it was a particularly cold and snowy winter leading up to the blizzard.
Snow drifts were as high as 30 feet in some places.
It's estimated that more than 13,000 people were stranded for days in downtown office buildings.
