Officials from the department of public works say that the splash pad at Centennial Park was used as a launchpad for fireworks. This morning when they arrived it was covered in dangerous debris and explosive material.

Baseball diamonds at Riverside Park and Cazenovia park were covered in firework material and parts of the infield needed to be replaced because they were burned by fireworks.

Two garbage cans at Shoshone park were melted by fireworks as well.

Andy Rabb from the department of public works said, “while we are grateful and we love to have thousands of people and families that use our parks every Fourth of July. We are just asking people to think about other folks when they are in the parks and having their Fourth of July festivities.”

If your park or playground was affected, call 3-1-1 so the department of public works can clean it up.
