4 people rescued from house fire in Genesee County

Three family members were on the roof, and a fourth was on the first floor when first responders arrived at the Town of Pavilion home.

PAVILION, N.Y. — Four people escaped a 2-alarm fire that happened early Thursday morning in Genesee County.

Three family members were on the roof, and a fourth was on the first floor when first responders arrived at the Ellicott Street Road home in the Town of Pavilion.

Firefighters managed to get all four out safely, though one person went to the hospital for further evaluation.

"It wasn't too far in from the front door in the main area, near the stairwell, so they didn't have to go to far to find it, to make quick work of it. We put it under control, and then we used fans to ventilate the smoke and get everybody out," Pavilion Fire Department Chief Bryen Murrock said.

Several pets were also inside the house at the time, Murrock said.

Route 63, between Routes 19 and 20, had been shut down down for some time. The road reopened shortly before 7 a.m.

Fire crews from LeRoy, Stafford, City of Batavia, Bethany, Alexander, Perry, Perry Center, Wyoming, and York also assisted at the scene.
