LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Four people are without a home after a fire broke out just after 6 a.m. Saturday on Park Lane Circle.
The City of Lockport Fire Department said when crews arrived at the scene of the home smoke was visible from the second-floor window and was coming out of the second-floor window on the front of the house, but no visible fire had broken through the exterior.
The fire started in the kitchen and was quickly extinguished.
Fire officials said four people lived at the home but were not there at the time of the fire. They are now displaced. Firefighters were able to get two cats and a pet rat from the home and return them to the owners.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and said property damage is about $20,000.
