BUFFALO, N.Y. — The 33 East was closed at Grider Street for nearly three hours following a wrong-way crash on Sunday night.
Police say that a Nissan Altima was traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lane when it collided head-on with another vehicle near the Grider Street exit.
The 26-year-old male driver of the Nissan was taken to ECMC and had been listed in critical condition at the time.
Two occupants of the other vehicle were also taken to ECMC to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred during the Labor Day weekend, during which construction projects are on hold until 6 a.m. Tuesday to reduce roadway traffic and lane closures.

As of Tuesday, August 3 at 10:30 a.m. a Buffalo Police Official shared that the 26-year-old male driver has been pronounced dead at ECMC.
