BUFFALO, N.Y. — Three people are dead following an accident on Genesee Street in Buffalo Monday.
The accident happened at Genesee Street and Kilhoffer just before 1 p.m. and involved two vehicles.
Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo said two victims, an 18-year-old passenger and 61-year-old pedestrian hit by debris were taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
Rinaldo said two men and one woman died after a black mini-van and a white car collided head-on. He said based on witness accounts, speed was a factor in the crash.
"It appears that one of the vehicles was traveling at an extreme high rate of speed when it struck the other one head on east bound on Genesee street" Rinaldo said.
A security camera at May Corner Store at the corner of May Street and Genesee captured the crash. It shows the second after impact when the mini-van and car collided.
The store was blocked off for hours as Buffalo Police investigated the crash.
"It's terrifying, it's scary" said May Corner Store employee Mosleh Alamer. "People should not be speeding during winter, they shouldn't be speeding at all."
Buffalo Police are asking if anyone witnessed the crash or if they have surveillance footage to contact their confidential tip line at 716-847-2255.
The below footage was obtained from a camera at a nearby store, near Genesee Street and May Street.
