BUFFALO, N.Y. — Thousands of people flocked to downtown Buffalo for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday.
There wasn't any rain or snow as people packed Delaware Avenue sidewalks to watch the parade, which began at 2 p.m.
"A melting pot of the City of Buffalo is so important, and that we celebrate all of our cultural heritage," Buffalo Common Council member Mitch Nowakowski said. "Here in the City of Buffalo, we have the Pride parade, the Juneteenth parade, St. Patrick's Day, Dyngus Day. You name it, and we take it very seriously, and Buffalonians love a parade, and we love to celebrate a multitude of cultures."
Before the parade, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown spoke about the significance of the event.
"It's important to celebrate Irish heritage," he said. "There is a significant contribution that Irish Americans have made to the City of Buffalo and to our nation, so we are always proud and honored to celebrate the different cultures."
Members of the 2 On Your Side family were proud to march in the parade, which passed right by our downtown studio.
