NEWFANE, N.Y. — Two more people involved in the Sweet Angels Daycare case appeared in Newfane Town court on Tuesday.
The court was packed with families there to support their kids who they say were abused and the families of the women accused of abuse.
Victoria Stanton, 22, of Lockport had been charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Stanton took a plea deal and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service. An order of protection was also put in place.
The other defendant Alexis Cleveley who according to New York State Police was found to have acted in a manner that was endangering the welfare of children either verbally or physically pleaded not guilty to the three endangerment charges against her.
She referred all questions about the allegations against her to her attorney.
Cleveley has another court date set for March 5.
"It’s lousy that these people can do what they did to our children and pretty much walk away Scott-free," said Mallory Bumpers Wojewoda.
Bumpers Wojewoda tells 2 On Your Side her daughter Charlie was abused at the daycare.
"This is a slap on the wrist and nothing will happen to them so they don’t really take this seriously," added Kelly Ciappa another mom, who said her child went to Sweet Angels.
These are the second and third individuals to be charged in connection to the daycare.
In December, 66-year-old Karon Anterline of Newfane was the first woman to take a plea deal and was sentenced to community service.
Outside court on Tuesday, Kathy Chenez Stefanko said, "Again this wasn’t just verbal or they were mean to our kids. This was physical harm physical contact."
