2 local non-profits receive $25K grant from National Endowment for the Arts

The money will be used to help organizations and non-profits support artists, musician, exhibitions, education programs and public outreach.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo International Film Festival and Western New York Book Arts Collaborative are each receiving a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)

The announcement was made by Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.

The money will be used to help organizations and non-profits support artists, musician, exhibitions, education programs and public outreach.

“The arts are vital to our economy and society and breathe creativity and life into our communities. New York has long been a cultural and artistic hub thanks to our booming arts, music, and humanities groups. From the Arts Center in Troy to our unique Rochester Fringe Festival, this major investment is a win for tourists that come from near and far and our residents who live in communities that are vibrant hubs of the arts,” said Senator Schumer in a press release. “This $1.2 million federal boost will help create a brighter future for our local artists and creative arts communities, all while creating new jobs in the education and nonprofits sectors. I am proud to deliver this critical federal funding to support hundreds of organizations that make New York the #1 destination for arts and culture and will drive the Empire State to new heights for years to come.”

“The arts define who we are as a nation and are pivotal in the advancement of our education and economy,” said Senator Gillibrand. “Promoting the arts sparks life in our communities, and this $1.2 million in federal funding is a major investment in local organizations to advance art, music, and culture in Upstate New York. I am proud to deliver this funding and will continue to fight to bring federal dollars home to New York.”

Both the Buffalo International Film Festival and Western New York Book Arts Collaborative will receive $25,000 each.
