CANEADEA, N.Y. — A 15-year-old teenager is dead after he went swimming in the Genesee River in Allegany County.
State Police said they responded to a call on Thursday around 8 p.m. for a report of a teen who was swimming in the Genesee River near State Route 19 and Oramel Hill Road in the Town of Caneadea.
According to investigators, two teens had gone to the river to swim, but a 15-year-old boy was swept away by the current and did not resurface.
The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team, as well as other agencies, searched for the missing team.
His body was located around 11:30 a.m. Friday. His name is not being released at this time until all family are located.
