BUFFALO, N.Y. — 10 years ago this week:
NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the formation of a 19-member panel that would be charged with assisting in the decision on where to build a new stadium for the Buffalo Bills.
It turned out, however, that the so-called New Stadium Working Group wouldn't actually "work." It only met once, in secret, where it was later reported that members didn't do much more than introduce themselves to each other before never meeting again.
Missouri football player Michael Sam became a household name, not so much for his prowess on the gridiron, but for announcing he was gay.
Sam, the first NFL prospect to make such a public announcement prior to the draft.
Sam was taken in the 7th round by the Los Angeles Rams but was cut after training camp and never played a down in the NFL.
20 years ago this week:
Three years after New York became the first state to outlaw using a handheld cell phone while driving, a measure taken to reduce the dangerous and growing practice of distracted driving, a study revealed that more drivers were using phones while driving.
"It's still a relatively new law but it's going to take some time to take it up to the level of seatbelt enforcement that's been in existence now for almost 20 years," a NY State Trooper told 2 on Your Side at the time.
Buffalo's Ani DiFranco won her first and only Grammy, not for her music, but for Best Recording Package, an award that recognizes the artwork on an album cover.
In this case, DiFranco won for the design on the cover of Evolve, which she designed along with artist Brian Grunert.
30 years ago this week:
President Clinton proposed a federal budget of $1.5 trillion. The current budget under President Biden is $6.3 trillion.
Schindler's List topped the list of movies nominated for Oscars when the Hershey company turned 100 years old.

The Red Barn remained a popular option for diners of fast food, Hawaiian Air still flew out of the Niagara Falls airport, and the Playboy Cub was still operating at the Executive Inn in Cheektowaga.
60 years ago this week:
The British Invasion was underway led by the Beatles who arrived in New York City and made a famous first-time appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. The group would go on to set the music industry on its ear, and it would never be the same after this week in 1964 when it was all News 2 You!
