JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The month of October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In 2024, it's estimated more than 360,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

During the month, two local police departments are finding their own ways to recognize and show their support for breast cancer.

Down in the Southern Tier, Jamestown Police Department officers will be wearing special pink patches throughout the month.

And in West Seneca, the the police department is holding its fifth annual "Pinktober" fundraising event. The department is selling custom 20-ounce tumblers with the "Pinktober" badge on them. Custom pink badge patches and tumblers will be available with a $30 donation.
