WNY Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association talks Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month

The WNY Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association spoke to 2 On Your Side about the importance of Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — June is known as Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month.

This year, the Alzheimer's Association is encouraging everyone to take care of their brain health by making lifestyle changes such as exercising, not smoking, educating yourself, and changing your diet.

The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association spoke to 2 On Your Side about what this month means and how you can utilize their services locally.

Andrea Cook, Director of Education and Training for the Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, says the chapter offers many free resources to the public including educational classes, support groups for caregivers and people living with disease and a 24/ 7 hotline.

"People can reach out day and night," she said. "No question is too big or small, we can provide referrals for different service providers, and just talk you through a tough time."
