'No Menthol Buffalo' launches campaign

The group is going to schools across our region to let students know the health risks that come from smoking flavored menthol.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — "End the sale of flavored menthol."

That was the message the No Menthol Buffalo Coalition was passing along Tuesday morning to kick off their campaign to get menthol off the shelves.

The group is going to schools across our region to let students know the health risks that come from smoking flavored menthol.

We're told the additive disproportionately effects the Black community, and they're more likely to die from smoking products with it in them

Dr. Maansi Bandal-Travers, Associate Professor Roswell Park said, "Nicotine is damaging to the development brain. We want to try to tell kids as early as possible, how dangerous these products are and why menthol cigarettes in particular are dangerous to use, even though they feel easier to smoke."

Right now, No Menthol Buffalo is talking to lawmakers and pushing for a bill to remove menthol off the shelves.
