BUFFALO, NY - You may have heard of "food deserts," or large areas in cities where it's tough to find fresh, healthy food.
Well, there's an effort to change that in Buffalo now with the opening of the Imperial Market at Bailey and Kensington Avenues.
And people in the community hope it's the start of something more.
"We believe that this investment can be a catalyst to other investment here on Bailey Avenue. We have anchor organizations that really are going to provide opportunities for our young people, training that's so desperately needed right in their neighborhood," said Rasheed Wyatt, a Buffalo common council member.
The market also created 45 jobs in the Bailey Kensington neighborhood.
