LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — A new Siena College poll released Monday shows that the coronavirus pandemic is having an impact on the daily lives of 87% of New Yorkers.
The COVID-19 crisis is weighing heavily on the minds of people all over the nation, including New York State where the most cases in the nation have been confirmed. A new poll shows that COVID-19 has had an impact on 87% of respondents lives. In fact, only 4% of those polled say they're continuing on with their life as usual, while 56% say they're in quarantine.
More than half of New Yorkers are worried about being able to meet financial demands, and 37% of all state residents said they're worried about being laid off.
“The coronavirus crisis has turned life upside down for nearly all New Yorkers. 95% are either quaranting or cutting back on going out, not being around others and practicing social distancing,” according to SCRI Director, Don Levy. “Almost as many, 82% , are worried about their health.”
Despite the anxiety this time has brought, the majority of New Yorkers said they are enjoying the little things and the extra time they're getting with their family.
"An overwhelming number of New Yorkers say that they are getting a chance to appreciate – whether by watching old movies, playing games or just being together – having extra time with those that they are close to," Levy said. "And, with all the things to worry about – health, money, food and bills – most of us say that we feel like we are enjoying the small things even more now than before.”
