Five new COVID-19 deaths on Friday bring Erie County total to 57

The county has a total of 1,506 positive cases. There are currently 1,019 active cases, and 430 people who have recovered.

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — According to Erie County COVID-19 data, five people died Friday from COVID-19, bringing the total to 57 people who have died due to the virus.

The county currently has a total of 1,506 positive cases. There are currently 1,019 active cases, and 430 people who have recovered. 

The county announced in a press release changes to its COVID-19 testing protocol, which will now prioritize those connected to health care settings and allow them to initiate testing without a request from their doctor.

Erie County will also distribute Narcan (naloxone) kits at the Broadway Market on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon for anyone who needs one. The distribution will happen at a booth between Lupas Meats and the Seafood Store.
