More than 1,000 coronavirus cases confirmed in Erie County

Another death was announced on Sunday. There are 861 active cases of coronavirus in Erie County, based on tests performed.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — One more person died on the same day the number of COVID-19 cases in Erie County topped 1,000.

There were 114 new positive results since Saturday night, bringing the total to 1,059. By 5 p.m. there was one new death and four new people who had recovered. The total deaths from COVID-19 is 27 in Erie County.

So far, 171 confirmed cases have recovered, 861 people are in isolation with positive test results, and 1,980 people are in quarantine due to a suspected case or being a close contact with a positive case.

As of Saturday night, 201 people were hospitalized, with 105 people in ICUs, and 99 of those people were on airway assist. 

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz says that based on current available data approximately 50 percent of all patients are in ICUs, and on average, 90 percent of ICU cases need airway assist.

  • 37 in Lancaster/Village
  • 27 in Clarence
  • 22 in Aurora/East Aurora
  • 19 in Grand Island
  • 16 in Alden/Village
  • 15 in Elma
  • 10 in Lackawanna
  • 10 in Evans/Angola
  • 5 in North Collins/Village
  • 4 in City of Tonawanda
  • 3 in Boston
  • 2 in Holland
  • 2 in Newstead/Akron
  • 2 in Wales
  • 1 in Concord/Springville
  • 1 in Marilla
  • 1 in Brant/Farnham
