EDEN, N.Y. — The coronavirus pandemic has caused an unusual dilemma for local flower nurseries and farms who have been growing flowers for churches and florists for Easter, and garden centers for the start of spring.
One Eden farm has found a creative solution: a flower sale and chicken dinner with another Eden business.
WD Henry & Sons and Weidner BBQ partnered on Saturday to help the community "feel good with flowers and food."
But that's not all. The family-owned farm is also offering the opportunity for people to call and donate flowers to seniors at Eden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. WD Henry & Sons says they will be accepting donations through Thursday.
"We will be donating flowers to individuals in nursing homes and senior facilities to brighten their day, given the circumstances they are unable to receive visitors at this time. We're hoping these flowers bring a smile to them," Dan Henry wrote to 2 On Your Side in an email.
The Henry Family is calling their fundraiser "Send a Smile to a Senior" and you can still make a donation or buy flowers for your own garden by calling (716) 648-4673 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
