NEW YORK — New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday morning that New York State has had a COVID-19 infection rate below 1% for a month.
Governor Cuomo said the state is now 31 days with an infection rate below 1%.
"Thanks to the hard work of New Yorkers, our state has now gone a full month with our COVID infection rate remaining below one percent," Governor Cuomo said in a press release. "Our numbers have continued to remain stable even as we reach new milestones in our phased, data-driven reopening. As we close out this Labor Day Weekend, I urge everyone to remain smart so we can continue to celebrate our progress in the weeks and months ahead. It took the work of all of us to get here, and to protect this progress we will need to all continue to wash our hands, wear our masks, remain socially distant and above all, stay New York tough."
On Sunday, the state reported that 0.88% of tests were positive.
For Western New York, the region continued to have the highest percent positive rate in the state on Saturday and Sunday.
The rates in the region were 2.0% for Saturday and 1.9% for Sunday.
