Cannabis control board announces CAURD grants

The board announced its new CAURD grant program to help support adult-use marijuana businesses.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The New York State Cannabis Control Board met Tuesday to give updates on licensing and its new efforts to help business owners.

Right now, more than 800 adult-use licenses are issued to cultivators, processors, distributors, and retail dispensaries across the state.

At least 20 of those licenses were issued within the last month.

The board announced its new CAURD grant program to help support adult-use marijuana businesses.

According to the board, businesses can receive up to 30,000 for equipment and other aspects of their operation.

"Eligible expenses that can be used include point of sale hardware, renovations of licensed retail space, inventory tracking systems, security systems, secure product storage and transportation and rent for licensed retail space, " Tabatha Robinson, Deputy Director for Economic Policy for the control board said.

The board said it's important to note that it is not yet accepting grant applications, but it plans to in the near future.
