Bicyclists raise money for Roswell Park

An Olympic champion was among those helping to raise money for the cancer center on Saturday.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Bicyclists helped to raise money for local research for the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Hundreds of cyclist reached the finish line in Niagara Falls for the annual Empire State Ride on Saturday. All week, bikers have been traveling 500 miles across New York State to raise money for cancer research.

The bicyclists included Buffalo native Emily Regan, a gold medal-winning rower in the women's eight at the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro. She spoke to 2 On Your Side about the event.

"It is just such a wonderful community, and the staff are wonderful, they're just so positive, and they're cheering for us at every rest stop," she said. "You get to learn about all the amazing things the staff is doing, and making an impact on our community every day, and global community. "

Nearly 300 riders participated in the Empire State Ride, and raised $2.2 million for Roswell.
