BUFFALO, N.Y. — November is American Diabetes Month, and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) announced a first of its kind event, State of Diabetes: Buffalo.

This event is taking place on World Diabetes Day, November 14, at the Seneca One Tower in Buffalo beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Panelists will be in attendance, discussing ways to empower the community and share knowledge and strategies. These individuals include:

  • Jeremiah M. Benoit, New York Lead Medical Director of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Leonard E. Egede, Professor of Medicine and Chair at UB's Department of Medicine
  • Tara McPherson, Corporate Wellness Consultant and Team Lead at Lawley
  • Oren Nissim, CEO & Co-founder of Brook Inc.
  • Kelly Marie Wofford, Erie County's Director at the Office of Health Equity

In addition to the panel, there will also be a networking session. Attendees will have the chance to share insight and cultivate collaborations.

Their website highlights the opportunity to explore ADA resources at the event and to engage with an action-oriented toolkit upon completion.

"This panel event brings together leaders, advocates, and health professionals from Western New York to share knowledge and strategies that can transform lives,” said Jeff Collins, the ADA’s executive director, Upstate New York area. “By working together, we can create healthier environments and inspire individuals to take charge of their health, ultimately reducing the impact of these chronic diseases in our communities.”

Registration is free, and employers, industry leaders, health care providers, payers, and community experts are invited to join.

Parking is available at the Seneca One Ramp (50 Exchange St) for $5.00 for the duration of the event.
